Hammer Throw
The hammer throw (HT for short) is one of the four throwing events in regular outdoor track-and-field competitions, along with the discus throw, shot put and Javelin throw, javelin. The hammer used in this sport is not like any of the tools also called by that name. It consists of a metal ball attached by a steel wire to a grip. These three components are each separate and can move independently. Both the size and weight of the ball vary between men's and women's events. The women's hammer weighs for college and professional meets while the men's hammer weighs . History Tradition traces it to the Tailteann Games (ancient), Tailteann Games in Hill of Tara, Tara, Ireland, around the year 1830 BC. Klaus Ploghaus
Klaus Dieter Ploghaus (31 January 1956 – 11 January 2022) was a West Germany, West German hammer thrower. He was born in Gelnhausen, Hesse. His biggest success came at the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles, United States where he won the bronze medal. In addition he finished twelfth at the 1978 European Championships in Athletics, 1978 European Championships, eighth at the 1982 European Championships in Athletics, 1982 European Championships, sixth at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics, 1983 World Championships and ninth at the 1986 European Championships in Athletics, 1986 European Championships. His personal best throw was 81.32 metres, achieved in May 1986 in Paderborn. This ranks him seventh among German hammer throwers, behind Ralf Haber, Heinz Weis, Karsten Kobs, Günther Rodehau, Holger Klose and Christoph Sahner. David Smith (born 21 June 1962 in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire) is a retired hammer thrower who competed for Great Britain at the 1988 Summer Olympics.
