1985–86 Drexel Dragons Men's Basketball Team
The 1985–86 Drexel Dragons men's basketball team represented Drexel University during the 1985–86 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Dragons, led by 9th year head coach Eddie Burke, played their home games at the Daskalakis Athletic Center and were members of the East Coast Conference (ECC). The team finished the season 19–12, and finished in 1st place in the ECC in the regular season. In the 1985–86 season, sophomore guard Michael Anderson set the school records at the time for both assists and steals in a season, recording 225 assists and 92 steals. In the season opener against Villanova, Anderson also set the school record for most free throws attempted in a game, with 24. On December 15, 1985, in their game against Coppin State, the team set a school record for most steals in a game as a team with 19 steals. Edward Burke (basketball)
Edward J. Burke (December 4, 1945 – March 23, 2009) was an American college basketball coach who led the Drexel Dragons men's basketball program from 1977 to 1991. Early life and high school Burke was born in 1945, the fourth of five children. He liked to remark that he was the only one of his siblings that did not enter the religious life. He attended St. Joseph's Prep, where he played point guard on their high school basketball team. With NBA player Matt Guokas, Burke was a part of the 1962 Philadelphia Catholic League championship team as a junior. The team lost to West Philadelphia High School 61–52 in the city title game. As a senior, Burke led the entire Catholic League in scoring. College Burke played for La Salle University from 1963 to 1967. A large knee injury ended his playing career in his senior season. Finneran Pavilion
The William B. Finneran Pavilion is a 6,501-seat multi-purpose arena in Villanova, Pennsylvania, United States, about 10 miles northwest of downtown ( Center City) Philadelphia. Built in 1985, the arena is home to the Villanova University Wildcats basketball teams. It is recognizable from the outside for its hyperbolic paraboloid roofline, similar to Alfond Arena at the University of Maine. Case Gym
Case Gym is a 1,800-seat multi-purpose arena at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. It opened in 1972 as part of the Harold Case Physical Education Center, which is named after the university's fifth president, Harold C. Case. The gym is referred to as "The Roof" because it is located on the top level of the building, above Walter Brown Arena. It is home to the Boston University Terriers men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the men's wrestling team. McCann Field House
McCann Arena is a 3,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. It was built in 1977 and is home to the Marist University Red Foxes men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball teams. The arena's namesake is James J. McCann. McCann was born in Poughkeepsie in 1880, and operated, along with his family, the McCann Feed and Grain Store on Main Street. McCann did well in the stock market and used the assets to establish the McCann Foundation in 1967, two years before his death, which began awarding money in 1969 for "progressive human welfare work."
