1985 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 1985 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 3–7 July at Stavanger Golf Club in Hafrsfjord, Norway. It was the 14th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting club was founded in 1956. The course, constructed by English course architect Fred Smith and situated in Hafrsfjord, 5 kilometres from the city center of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway, was completed with 18 holes in 1963, making it the second oldest 18-hole-course in Norway. The championship course was set up with par 71. Format All participating teams played two qualification rounds of Stroke play, stroke-play with six players, counted the five best scores for each team. Hafrsfjord
Hafrsfjord or Hafrsfjorden is a fjord in the Stavanger Peninsula in Rogaland county, Norway. The long fjord forms the border between the municipalities of Stavanger and Sola. On the west side of the fjord is the large village of Tananger, on the south is the village of Solakrossen, and on the east end of the fjord is the borough of Madla in the city of Stavanger. The Møllebukta bay area, located on the innermost part of the fjord, is the site of a popular beach and the Sverd i Fjell statues. The only bridge over the fjord is the Hafrsfjord Bridge which runs between Kvernevik in Stavanger and Jåsund in the village of Tananger in Sola. Stroke play is a scoring system in the sport of golf. In the regular form of stroke play, also known as medal play, the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In a regular stroke play competition, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Anna Iliana Maria Gabriella Oxenstierna (born 13 June 1963) is a retired Swedish professional golfer and Ladies European Tour player. She won the European Lady Junior's Team Championship twice and the 1989 TEC Players Championship in England. Early life and family Born into an athletic and golfing family, her father Thure Gabriel Oxenstierna is the architect of Roslagen Golf Club, where her brother Alexander later became the general manager. Sofia Grönberg-Whitmore
Sofia Grönberg-Whitmore (born 25 May 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer. She played on the Ladies European Tour (LET) between 1989 and 2001 and won three LET titles. In 1989 she also won a title on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour and its Order of Merit. Alongside Helen Alfredsson and Liselotte Neumann, Grönberg-Whitmore was one of the pioneers of women's professional golf in Sweden in the 1980s. Eva Ingeborg Dahllöf (born 4 July 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer who played 17 seasons on the LPGA Tour. Early life and amateur career Dahllöf started playing golf at the age of 9 with her father Kjell and mother Gun at Örnsköldsvik Golf Club in the province of Ångermanland in Sweden. At age 12, she won the 1977 Norrland Ladies' Championship (the championship representing the geographical northern half of Sweden) over 72 holes at her home course. In April 1983, Dahlöf won the French Junior Open Match-play Championship for the Esmond Trophy at Golf de Saint-Cloud outside Paris, beating Claire Waite, England, on the first extra hole of the final match. Helen Alfredsson
Helen Christine Alfredsson (born 9 April 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer who played primarily on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and is also a life member of the Ladies European Tour. She won the LPGA major Nabisco Dinah Shore and twice finished second in the U.S. Women's Open. Isabella Robertson (née McCorkindale) (born 11 April 1936) is a Scottish golfer who won the British Ladies Amateur in 1981. Robertson represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup as a player on seven occasions and twice as non-playing captain. She was inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.
