1984–85 Huddersfield Town A.F.C. Season
Huddersfield Town's 1984–85 campaign was a mediocre season for the Terriers, with the team finishing in 13th place, never looking likely to be promoted or relegated. Squad at the start of the season Review Town didn't have the best start in their second season back in Division 2. By mid-October, Town were second bottom, following only winning one of their first 9 league games. But, a stunning turn in form saw Town go on a run of 9 games unbeaten, of which 8 of those were wins, helped by goals from Mark Lillis and Dale Tempest. That run saw Town climb to 9th in early December. Following that run, Town lost 5 of the next 7, winning the other 2, but then a run of 9 games unbeaten seemed to try to force Town into a late promotion surge, but this was quickly ended by a dreadful late season run, which saw Town lose 6 of their last 8 games, finishing in a mediocre 13th place. Huddersfield Town A
Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized River Colne, West Yorkshire, Colne to the south of the town centre which then flows into the River Calder, West Yorkshire, Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town. Carlisle ( , ; from xcb, Caer Luel) is a city that lies within the Northern English county of Cumbria, south of the Scottish border at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril. Peter James Butler (born 27 August 1966) is an English professional football player and coach. As a player, he made more than 450 appearances in the Football League and the Premier League. He then took up coaching, first in England and then in Australia and South-East Asia. He was in charge of the Botswana national team from 2014 until 2017. He is currently the manager of Liberia. Steve Stoutt
Stephen Paul Stoutt (born 6 April 1964) is an English former professional footballer who made 149 appearances in the Football League playing as a defender for Huddersfield Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Grimsby Town and Lincoln City. He went on to play non-league football for Boston United and Grantham Town, where he was briefly caretaker manager. Brian Laws
Brian Laws (born 14 October 1961) is an English former professional footballer and manager. Playing as a defender, Laws made over 100 appearances for each of Burnley, Middlesbrough, and Nottingham Forest. In 1994, Laws became player-manager of Grimsby Town before taking a similar position with Scunthorpe United in 1997. For the next nine years, Laws served as manager of Scunthorpe, guiding them to promotion twice. In 2006, he accepted the managerial role at Sheffield Wednesday, lasting three years in the job during which time Burnley approached him for their managers job when Steve Cotterill left, but were put off by the compensation demanded by Wednesday. David Burke (English Footballer)
David Ian Burke (born 6 August 1960 in Liverpool) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a left-back. Burke began his career at Bolton Wanderers in 1977, making his league debut as an 18-year-old on 2 September 1978, in a 2–2 draw at Birmingham. He remained at Burnden Park for four years, making 69 league appearances and scoring one goal. In 1981, he moved across the Pennines to join Huddersfield Town. He went on to make almost 200 appearances for the West Yorkshire club. He signed for Steve Coppell's Crystal Palace in 1987. He won promotion via the play-offs to the top flight with Palace in 1988–89 but did not make the squad for the 1990 FA Cup Final, which Palace lost to Manchester United after a replay. Samuel Allardyce (; born 19 October 1954), colloquially referred to as Big Sam, is an English football manager and former professional player. Allardyce made 578 league and cup appearances in a 21-year career spent mostly in the Football League, as well as brief spells in the North American Soccer League and League of Ireland. Brian Roy Cox (born 7 May 1961) is an English former professional footballer born in Sheffield, who played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town, Mansfield Town and Hartlepool United. Cox started his career as an apprentice at Sheffield Wednesday, making his debut as a 17-year-old in a 1–1 draw against Oxford United in the Football League Third Division.
