1983 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1983 Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament was the seventh held by the Atlantic 10 Conference, and the first under the conference's current name. It was held in Philadelphia at The Spectrum from March 7–12, 1983. West Virginia defeated Temple 86-78 to win their first tournament championship. Terence Stansbury of Temple was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. Spectrum (arena)
The Spectrum (later known as CoreStates Spectrum, First Union Spectrum and Wachovia Spectrum) was an indoor arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The arena opened in September 1967 as part of what is now known as the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. After several expansions of its seating capacity, it accommodated 18,168 for basketball and 17,380 for ice hockey, arena football, indoor soccer, and box lacrosse. The final event at the Spectrum was a Pearl Jam Backspacer Tour, concert on October 31, 2009. The arena was demolished between November 2010 and May 2011. Rhode Island Rams Men's Basketball
The Rhode Island Rams men's basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and the Atlantic 10 Conference. The team was recently under the direction of head coach Archie Miller. The Rams play their home games at the Ryan Center (capacity 7,657) which opened in 2002. The Rams experienced their greatest success by making the Elite Eight in 1998, pulling within 3 points of making their first Final Four in just their 7th appearance before ultimately losing to Stanford. The West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball team represents West Virginia University in National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA Division I (NCAA), Division I college basketball competition. The Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team representing the Pennsylvania State University. They play home games at the 15,261-seat Bryce Jordan Center, moving there from Rec Hall during the 1995–96 season. Their student cheering section is known as the Legion of Blue. The team played its first season of basketball in 1897, finishing with a 1–1 record after playing Bucknell twice. They lost the first game 4–24, and won the second 10–7. The Duquesne Dukes represent Duquesne University in college basketball.
