1982–83 St. John's Redmen Basketball Team
The 1982–83 St. John's Redmen basketball team represented St. John's University during the 1982–83 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was coached by Lou Carnesecca in his fifteenth year at the school. St. John's home games are played at Alumni Hall and Madison Square Garden and the team is a member of the Big East Conference. The team had an overall record of 28–5 (12–4 Big East) They advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in the 1983 NCAA Tournament before losing to Georgia 70–67. Lou Carnesecca
Luigi P. Carnesecca (January 5, 1925 – November 30, 2024) was an American men's college basketball coach at St. John's University. Carnesecca also coached at the professional level, leading the New York Nets of the American Basketball Association (ABA) for three seasons. Carnesecca was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992 and the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993. He coached the St. John's basketball program to 526 wins and 200 losses over 24 seasons (1965–70, 1973–92). The colorful "Looie" (as he was popularly known by fans and by the media) reached the post-season in every season he coached the team, including a Final Four appearance in 1985. Brentwood High School is a secondary school on Long Island in Brentwood, New York, Brentwood, New York (state), New York, on United States. It is one of the largest high schools in New York state. Florida Gators Men's Basketball
The Florida Gators men's basketball team represents the University of Florida in the sport of basketball. The Gators compete in NCAA Division I's Southeastern Conference (SEC). Home games are played on Billy Donovan Court in the O'Connell Center, Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on the university's Gainesville, Florida, Gainesville campus. While the University of Florida's men's basketball team first took the court in 1915, the program did not receive much support from the university for several decades.
