1982 Men's Hockey Asia Cup
The 1982 Men's Hockey Asia Cup was the first edition of the Asia Cup organized by Asian Hockey Federation (AHF). It was held in Karachi, Pakistan from 12 to 20 March 1982 and saw seven teams compete with an eighth (Japan) not being able to compete. Initially the competition was going to be held in Lahore, but due to the persistent rain, the event was moved to Karachi. Once there, the competition was contested in a round-robin format with each team competing against one another. After 21 matches were played, Pakistan took out the tournament winning all six matches to become the first champions of the Asia Cup ahead of India and China who finished with the silver and bronze respectively. Qualified teams Eight teams qualified through to the Asian Cup with the top three from the eastern qualifying group joining the remaining five teams in competing. Men's Hockey Asia Cup
The Men's Hockey Asia Cup is a men's international field hockey tournament organized by the Asian Hockey Federation. The winning team becomes the champion of Asia and qualifies for the FIH Hockey World Cup. South Korea are the defending champions, having won the 2022 edition. The next edition is scheduled to take place in August-September 2025. South Korea have won the most titles with five. India and Pakistan have both won the tournament three times. The hosts together with the six highest-ranked teams from the previous edition directly qualify for the tournament. They are joined by the top team from the Men's AHF Cup or the top two teams if the host is already qualified. Japan Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Japan men's national field hockey team represents Japan in men's international field hockey and is operated by the Japan Hockey Association. As of January 2019, they are ranked 18th in the world. The team participated in the first World Cup in 1971, where they finished 9th. The China men's national field hockey team represents the China in international field hockey matches and tournaments. History The team participated at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Most of the players have traditionally been from Inner Mongolia, where the Daur people have been playing Beikou, a game similar to field hockey, for about 1,000 years.
