1980 Supertaça De Portugal
The 1980 Supertaça de Portugal was the 2nd edition of the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, Supertaça de Portugal, the annual Portugal, Portuguese association football, football season-opening match contested by the winners of the previous season's top Primeira Liga, league and Taça de Portugal, cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). The 1980 Supertaça de Portugal was contested over two legs, and opposed S.L. Benfica, Benfica and Sporting Clube de Portugal, Sporting CP of the Primeira Liga. Sporting CP qualified for the SuperCup by winning the 1979–80 Primeira Divisão, whilst Benfica qualified for the Supertaça by winning the 1979–80 Taça de Portugal. The Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (; English: Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, or simply Portuguese Super Cup) is an annual Portuguese association football, football match played since 1979 between the winners of the top-tier league (Primeira Liga) and cup (Taça de Portugal) competitions. The match and trophy are named after former Portuguese player, coach and sports journalist Cândido de Oliveira. António Bastos Lopes
António José Bastos Lopes (born 19 December 1953) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a central defender. Club career Born in Lisbon, Bastos Lopes played for 15 seasons with hometown side S.L. Benfica, making his first-team debut in 1972. After only seven Primeira Liga games in his first three years combined, he benefitted from the departure of legendary Humberto Coelho – who barred him at the stopper position – to Paris Saint-Germain F.C. to begin appearing more regularly. Frederico Nobre Rosa (6 April 1957 – 17 February 2019), known simply as Frederico, was a Portuguese professional footballer who played as a central defender. Humberto Coelho
Humberto Manuel de Jesus Coelho (born 20 April 1950) is a Portuguese retired footballer and manager. In a career mainly associated with Benfica, the central defender also competed professionally in France and the United States, during a 16-year career. Manuel Bento
Manuel Galrinho Bento (25 June 1948 – 1 March 2007) was a Portuguese professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Bento was best known for his 20-year spell at Benfica, having retired well into his 40s after appearing in nearly 650 official games. He represented Portugal at Euro 1984 and the 1986 World Cup, helping the national team reach the semi-finals in the former tournament. Manuel José Tavares Fernandes (5 June 1951 – 27 June 2024) was a Portuguese football striker and manager. His playing career was mainly associated with Sporting CP, which he later also coached. At 255 goals in all competitions, he was the second-highest goalscorer in the club's history.
