1979–80 FIBA European Cup Winners' Cup
The 1979–80 FIBA European Cup Winners' Cup was the fourteenth edition of FIBA's 2nd-tier level European-wide professional club basketball competition, contested between national domestic cup champions, running from 30 October 1979, to 19 March 1980. It was contested by 22 teams, two more than in the previous edition. Emerson Varese defeated the former champions, Gabetti Cantù, in a final held in Milan, winning the FIBA European Cup Winner's Cup for the second time. The FIBA Saporta Cup, founded as ''FIBA European Cup Winners Cup'', was the name of the second-tier level European-wide professional club basketball competition, where the domestic National Cup winners, from all over Europe, played against each other.
