The 1977 PSA Men's Uniroyal World Open Squash Championship is the men's edition of the 1977 World Open, which serves as the individual world championship for squash players. The event took place at Brahma Lodge in Adelaide, Australia from 11 October to 21 October 1977. Geoff Hunt won his second World Open title, defeating Qamar Zaman Qamar Zaman (born 11 April 1952 in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan) is a former squash player from Pakistan. The World Squash Championships are Squash (sport), squash events for men and women organised by the Professional Squash Association. The men's event was first held in 1976 in London, England and the women's was inaugurated in 1976 in Brisbane, Australia. Overview The British Open Squash Championships, British Open had for many years been generally considered to be the sport's effective world championship, and this continued to be the case until the World Open (now called World Championship) was established. The women's World Championship was held once every two years until the early 1990s, when it became an annual event. The men's event has been held every year since 1976, except for a two-year gap in 2000 and 2001 when it was not held due primarily to difficulties in securing sponsorship. John Easter
John Nicholas Cave Easter (17 December 1945 – 11 January 2016) was an English squash player, cricketer and businessman. Education John Easter attended St Edward's School, Oxford, before going up to Christ Church, Oxford, where he got an honours degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Squash career A tall, naturally gifted player, Easter got his squash blue for Oxford in 1966 and 1967. Between 1971 and 1983, he played 31 times for Great Britain and England. He turned professional in the 1973-74 season after leading Great Britain to second place at the World Championships in South Africa. At one stage he was ranked No. 9 in the world. His best performances in the British Open were reaching the quarter-finals in 1970 and in 1971 (when he was seeded seventh).
