1974–75 Northern Rugby Football League Season
The 1974–75 Rugby Football League season was the 80th season of competition between the clubs of England's Rugby Football League, Northern Rugby Football League. The season's First Division RFL Championship, Championship featured 16 clubs and was won by St Helens R.F.C., St. Helens. The Challenge Cup was won by Widnes Vikings, Widnes. Rule change * Drop goals became worth one point. Drops had previously been worth two points. Season summary St Helens R.F.C., St. Helens won their seventh Championship. York F.C., York, Bramley RLFC, Bramley, Rochdale Hornets and Halifax R.L.F.C., Halifax were demoted to the Second Division. The Rugby Football League Championship First Division was the top division of rugby league in Great Britain between 1895 and 1996, when it was replaced by the Super League. History 1895–1904: Foundations The first season of rugby league (1895–96) saw all the breakaway clubs play in a single league competition. Whitehaven is a town and civil parish in the Cumberland (unitary authority), Cumberland district of Cumbria, England.
