The 1971 Campeonato Nacional was Primera División de Chile’s 39th season since its foundation in 1933. Unión San Felipe was the tournament's champion, winning its first ever league title at top-level. Chilean Primera División
The Chilean Primera División () is a professional association football league in Chile and the highest level of the Chilean football league system. Founded in 1933, it is organized by the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP). The league is officially known as the Liga de Primera Itaú due to sponsorship by Brazilian bank Itaú Unibanco, Itaú. Throughout its history, the Chilean Primera División has had different formats, structures and number of participants. The 2025 Chilean Primera División, 2025 season is being contested through a single tournament throughout the calendar year. A total of 16 teams participate in the competition and it works with a system of promotions and relegations with the immediately lower category, the Primera B de Chile, Primera B (category with which it shares the Copa Chile). Santiago Wanderers
Club de Deportes Santiago Wanderers is a football club based in Valparaíso, a founding member of the Chilean Football Federation. Their home ground, Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander, is in the north-west of the city. Wanderers have played their games there since 1931 after moving from Barrio Puerto. Founded on 15 August 1892, it is the country's oldest club and the oldest football team in Chile and the entirity of the Americas. Sergio Alberto Ahumada Bacho (born 2 October 1948) is a retired Chilean footballer, who played for Deportes La Serena, Colo-Colo, Tecos, Unión Española, among others clubs. Club career Born in La Cantera town, Coquimbo, Chile, Ahumada was trained at local team Club Deportivo Cantera Alta and Deportes La Serena. He made his professional debut with Deportes La Serena in 1966 and was loaned out to San Antonio Unido in the Chilean second level the next year. Following Deportes La Serena, Ahumada continued his career with Colo-Colo, Unión Española, Everton de Viña del Mar and O'Higgins in the Chilean Primera División. Everton de Viña del Mar is a Football in Chile, Chilean football club based in the city of Viña del Mar. The club was founded 24 June 1909 after a group of British Chilean, Anglo-Chilean teenagers formed a football club and named it after the English team Everton F.C., Everton who had recently completed a pioneering tour of South America.
