The 1969–70 NCAA University Division men's basketball season began in December 1969, progressed through the regular season and conference tournaments, and concluded with the 1970 NCAA University Division basketball tournament championship game on March 21, 1970, at Cole Field House in College Park, Maryland. The UCLA Bruins won their sixth NCAA national championship with an 80–69 victory over the Jacksonville Dolphins. 1969–70 South Carolina Gamecocks Men's Basketball Team
The 1969–70 South Carolina Gamecocks men's basketball team represented the University of South Carolina during the 1969–70 men's college basketball season. South Carolina won their first ACC Regular season championship after going a perfect 14-0 in ACC play. Although they won the ACC regular season, they were denied a spot in the NCAA tournament after they lost a controversial ACC Championship tournament game to NC State in double overtime. Junior John Roche won ACC player of the year, and was a first team All American. South Carolina began the season ranked 1st in the AP poll, and finished 6th in both AP and Coaches. NCAA University Division
The NCAA University Division was a historic subdivision of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) consisting of member schools competing at the highest level of college sports. The University Division was first established as a basis for determining eligibility to participate in the 1957 NCAA University Division basketball tournament. It was replaced in 1973 with the creation of NCAA Division I. Origin The University Division began for purposes of college basketball. In August 1956, NCAA executive director Walter Byers announced that, starting in 1957, the NCAA would hold separate basketball tournaments for major schools and smaller colleges. Approximately 156 major schools competing in the "University Division" would compete for 24 spots in the University Division tournament, while 285 smaller schools in the " College Division" would compete for 32 spots in a separate tournament. Colorado Buffaloes Men's Basketball
The Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team represents the University of Colorado Boulder. The team competes in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA Division I. They are currently coached by Tad Boyle. In the United States, the Coaches Poll is a weekly ranking of the top 25 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) college football, Division I college basketball, and Division I college baseball teams. The football version of the poll has been known officially as the US LBM Coaches Poll since 2023. The football rankings are compiled by the US LBM Board of Coaches which is made up of 62 head coaches at Division I FBS institutions. All coaches are members of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). The basketball rankings are compiled by the USA Today Sports Board of Coaches which is made up of 32 head coaches at Division I institutions. Kevin Bradshaw
Kevin Bradshaw (born February 13, 1965) is an American former professional basketball player and college basketball coach. He is best known as the NCAA record-holder for most points in a single game against a Division I opponent. College career Bradshaw, a 6'6" guard, played high school basketball at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Florida. Playing alongside future NBA player Vernon Maxwell, Bradshaw averaged 30.6 points per game as a senior in 1983 and was named first team All-State. Bradshaw turned down his hometown Florida Gators, instead opting to play for the smaller Bethune–Cookman University. After his sophomore season, he left the school and joined the Navy. After being stationed on a submarine tender near San Diego, Bradshaw began playing with the All-Navy team. He would go on to travel the country playing with the Navy All Stars and later the All-Armed Forces team, alongside future NBA star David Robinson.
