1966–67 Liverpool F.C. Season
The 1966–67 season was Liverpool Football Club's 75th season in existence and their fifth consecutive season in the First Division. Their win against Everton at Goodison Park at least gave Liverpool the Charity Shield, but they were humbled by Ajax, led by a young Johan Cruyff, in the European Cup. Liverpool finished fifth in the table, with arch rivals Manchester United winning the championship instead. Liverpool is a port City status in the United Kingdom, city and metropolitan borough in Merseyside, England. Tommy Lawrence
Thomas Johnstone Lawrence (14 May 1940 – 10 January 2018) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Liverpool and Tranmere Rovers from the 1950s to the 1970s. Lawrence was with Liverpool for 14 years, making more than 300 league appearances, and he played in three full internationals for Scotland during the 1960s. Early years Lawrence was born Thomas Johnstone in Dailly, Ayrshire, one of three children of Frank and Ruby Lawrence. Peter Thompson (footballer, Born 1942)
Peter Thompson (27 November 1942 Carlisle – 30 December 2018) was an English professional footballer. Thompson was known for his speedy and electric style of play. Thompson made 560 appearances in the English Football League, playing for Preston North End F.C., Liverpool F.C. and the Bolton Wanderers. Thompson played as an outside left for Liverpool , and was capped 16 times for England. Gordon Wallace (born 13 June 1944 in Lanark) is a Scottish former footballer, who played for Liverpool during the 1960s. William Stevenson (26 October 1939 – 27 May 2025) was a Scottish professional football player and manager. He played for Rangers, Liverpool, Stoke City, Tranmere Rovers and the Vancouver Whitecaps. Gordon Milne
Gordon Milne (born 29 March 1937) is an English former football player and manager. Personal life Gordon Milne was born in Preston, Lancashire, England and is the son of the Scottish former Preston player Jimmy Milne and Jesse Milne. Club career Milne had a successful playing career with amateur side Morecambe, Preston North End, Liverpool (1960–1967), Blackpool (1967–1970) and Wigan Athletic (1970). He was one of Bill Shankly's first signings, when he moved from Preston North End for £16,000 in August 1960. Ian Robert Callaghan (born 10 April 1942) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He holds the record for most appearances for Liverpool. He was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 1975 New Year Honours. Alf Arrowsmith (11 December 1942 – 12 May 2005) was an English footballer who played as a striker. Arrowsmith began his career in non-league football with Tintwistle Villa. Ron Yeats
Ronald Yeats (15 November 1937 – 6 September 2024) was a Scottish footballer. He started his professional career with Dundee United in 1957 before joining Liverpool in 1961. He became club captain and won six trophies—two league titles, one FA Cup and three Charity Shields—over the following ten years. In 1971, he joined Tranmere Rovers, where he spent three years as player-manager before serving in the same role at Barrow and Santa Barbara Condors. Thomas Smith (5 April 1945 – 12 April 2019) was an English footballer, who played as a defender at Liverpool for 16 years from 1962 to 1978. Known for his uncompromising defensive style, manager Bill Shankly once said of him: "Tommy Smith wasn't born, he was quarried". Ian Ross (26 January 1947 – 9 February 2019) was a Scottish professional football player and manager. He spent his entire playing career in England, including spells with Liverpool, Aston Villa and Peterborough United. As a manager, he won two Icelandic championships with Valur in 1985 and 1987 and also managed in the English and Scottish leagues.
