Rod Laver defeated Chuck McKinley in the final, 6–3, 6–1, 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1961 Wimbledon Championships. Rod Laver
Rodney George Laver (born 9 August 1938) is an Australian former professional tennis player. Laver was ranked as the World number 1 ranked male tennis players, world number 1 professional player indisputably for five years from 1965 to 1969, and by some sources also in 1964 and 1970. He was also ranked as the number 1 amateur in 1961 and 1962. Laver won 200 singles titles across his amateur and professional careers, the most won by any tennis player. Laver won 11 Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, Grand Slam tournament singles titles and 8 Major professional tennis tournaments before the Open Era, Pro major titles. Keith Diepraam
Keith Edward Diepraam (born 11 September 1942) is a retired South African male tennis player. Diepraam started playing tennis at age 15 when he went to Glenwood High School in Durban, South Africa. In 1964 he was runner–up to countryman Cliff Drysdale at the Stuttgart tournament. Between 1964 and 1966 Diepraam played seven ties for the South African Davis Cup team and compiled a record of 20 wins and 12 losses. In 1965 and 1966 South Africa reached the final of the Europe zone but lost to Spain and West Germany respectively. After his playing career he became a tennis coach and took a coaching position in Midland, Texas, USA in 1973. Frank Froehling
Frank Arthur Froehling III (May 19, 1942 – January 23, 2020) was an American tennis player. During his college career at Trinity University Froehling recorded 46–5 in singles matches and won nine singles titles. He was runner-up at U.S. National Tennis Championships in 1963 (where he beat Roy Emerson before losing to Rafael Osuna). That year Froehling was ranked world No. 6 by Lance Tingay of ''The Daily Telegraph''. Froehling was ranked in the top ten U.S. players on five occasions, reaching U.S. No. 2 in 1962 and No. 3 in 1963. Ronald Barnes (tennis)
Ronald Winston Barnes (1 January 1941 – 13 December 2002) was a professional tennis player from Brazil who competed in the 1950s and 1960s. Barnes reached the semifinals of the U.S. National Championships in 1963, beating third seed Dennis Ralston in the quarter finals. Afterwards Ralston said "I used to think clay was Barnes' best surface, but now I've got to call him a grass player. If he continues to play like that, I don't know who'll beat him". Barnes won many points with forehands from the baseline, but also came into the net and scored with many backhand volleys. Mario Llamas
Mario Llamas (30 March 1928 – 17 June 2014) was a tennis player from Mexico. Career Llamas was a regular fixture on the Mexico Davis Cup team, appearing in a total of 21 ties during his career. He won 21 of his 44 rubbers, 15 of them in singles. In the 1962 Davis Cup, Llamas was a member of the team that finished as the runner-up. Although he did not play in the final against Australia, he took part in the America Zone and Inter-Zone finals. He had a win over Rod Laver in a 1959 Davis Cup match. Jiří Javorský
Jiří Javorský (9 February 1932 – 16 September 2002) was a Czech tennis player. Javorský played in the Davis Cup for Czechoslovakia between 1955 and 1966. In 1957, he and his partner Věra Suková won the mixed doubles at the French Open. In 1968 Javorský moved to Germany where he became a tennis coach. Staffan Stockenberg
Staffan Oscar Stockenberg (14 September 1931 – 20 May 2019) was a Swedish tennis player. Tennis career As a junior, Stockenberg achieved significant successes and won two consecutive junior singles titles at the Wimbledon Championships, in 1948 and 1949. He also won the Swedish Junior Championship title five times from 1945 to 1949. Stockenberg's first tournament victory was at the North of England Hardcourts event in Scarborough when he beat the Polish player Czeslaw Spychala 6–4, 6–4 in the final. Robert Anthony John Hewitt (born 12 January 1940) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. In 1967, after marrying a South African, he became a South African citizen. He has won 15 major titles and a career Grand Slam in both men's and mixed doubles. In 2015, he was convicted of rape and sexual assault of girls he was coaching in the 1980s and 1990s; Hewitt was sentenced to six years in jail, and was subsequently expelled from the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Enrique Jorge Morea (11 April 1924 – 15 March 2017) was an Argentine tennis player. Morea reached the singles semifinals of the French Championships in 1953, beating Mervyn Rose and Gardnar Mulloy and then losing to Ken Rosewall. Ronald "Ronnie" Edward Holmberg (born January 27, 1938) is a former American tennis player who competed during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. He was ranked world No. 7 in 1959 and was ranked in the U.S. Top 10 for nine years. William Álvarez (tennis)
William Álvarez (15 December 1934 – 23 January 2022) was a Colombian-born Spanish tennis coach and former professional player. He relocated to Spain in the 1970s and became a world acclaimed coach.
