Mary Reitano
Mary Carter Reitano (''née'' Carter; born 29 November 1934) is a former tennis player from Australia. As a junior player she won the girls' singles title at the Australian Open, Australian Championships in 1951 and 1952. Reitano won the singles title at the 1956 Australian Championships, defeating Thelma Long in the final in three sets after surviving a match point in the third set. At the 1959 Australian Championships Reitano won her second singles title after a straight-sets victory in the final against Renée Schuurman. Additionally, she reached the Australian semifinals on six other occasions. She teamed up with Margaret Court to win the women's doubles title there in 1961. Reitano teamed up with three different partners to be the runner-up in women's doubles at the 1956, 1959, and 1962 Australian Championships. Yvonne Johnson (tennis)
Yvonne Johnson (October 26, 1942 – December 4, 2024) was an American politician who was the mayor of Greensboro, North Carolina, from 2007 until 2009. She was previously a member of the Greensboro City Council for 14 years, beginning in 1993 and Mayor Pro-Tem for 6 years. Johnson was the first African-American to serve as Greensboro's mayor. Life Johnson grew up in Greensboro, and experienced segregation from a young age. She was a Girl Scout and attended Bennett College, where she became involved in civil rights activism. She participated in sit-ins, once being incarcerated for three days following a demonstration, and walked in the 1963 March on Washington. She graduated from Bennett in 1964, and went on to earn a master's degree in guidance and counseling from North Carolina A&T. Joan S. Gray was elected moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA) at the 217th General Assembly on June 15, 2006. As moderator, she served as the presiding officer of the week-long General Assembly meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, followed by a two-year term as the ambassador-at-large for the denomination. She has also spent many years working in various churches and is currently serving as part of the faculty at Columbia Theological Seminary. Eva Ruth de Jong-Duldig (née Duldig; born 11 February 1938) is an Austrian-born Australian and Dutch former tennis player, and current author. From the ages of two to four, she was detained by Australia in an isolated internment camp, as an enemy alien. She later competed in tennis, representing Australia at the Wimbledon Championships in 1961. Nell Hopman
Eleanor "Nell" Mary Hall Hopman, CBE (née Hall; 9 March 1909 – 10 January 1968) was one of the female tennis players that dominated Australian tennis from 1930 through the early 1960s. She was the first wife of Harry Hopman, the coach and captain of 22 Australian Davis Cup teams. Early life Hopman was born on 9 March 1909 at Coogee, Sydney and was the only daughter and second of three children of Charles Ernest Hall, clerk, and Mabel Gertrude, née Tipper. She was educated at Claremont College, Randwick and as a student she excelled at tennis and music.
