1958 NFL Draft
The 1958 NFL draft had its first four rounds held on December 2, 1957, and its final twenty-six rounds on January 28, 1958. Both sessions were held at the Warwick Hotel in Philadelphia. This was the 12th and final year in which the first overall pick was a "lottery bonus". The Chicago Cardinals were automatically awarded the pick because it was the only team left that had not won the draft lottery yet. The Cardinals used the first pick to select quarterback King Hill. The Warwick
The Warwick is a historic hotel located at 1701 Locust Street in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Originally constructed in 1925 in an English Renaissance style, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, and on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places on February 8, 1995. The hotel hosted the 1944 NFL draft, 1960 NFL draft, and 1961 NFL draft. The building has been divided into condominiums and a hotel that operated as the Radisson Blu Warwick Hotel in the past, but is now an independent hotel, the Warwick Rittenhouse Square Philadelphia. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. John David Crow
John David Crow Sr. (July 8, 1935 – June 17, 2015) was an American football player, coach, and college athletics administrator. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1957 as a halfback playing for the Texas A&M Aggies. After college, he played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago / St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers from 1958 to 1968. After his playing career, Crow became an assistant football coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team of the University of Alabama, serving under coach Bear Bryant from 1969 to 1971 He moved to the NFL as an assistant with the Cleveland Browns in 1972, and then the San Diego Chargers in 1974.
