1957–58 Idaho Vandals Men's Basketball Team
The 1957–58 Idaho Vandals men's basketball team represented the University of Idaho during the 1957–58 NCAA University Division basketball season. Members of the Pacific Coast Conference, the Vandals were led by fourth-year head coach Harlan Hodges and played their home games on campus at Memorial Gymnasium in Moscow, Idaho. The Vandals were overall and in conference play in the penultimate season of the PCC. Idaho played two home games in southern Idaho on consecutive nights in late December, both victories over Utah State, in Twin Falls and Idaho Falls. Senior guard Gary Simmons of Twin Falls was the UI's first All-American. Harlan Hodges
Harlan Crews Hodges (November 11, 1902 – June 6, 1994) was an American college basketball coach and educator. He was the head coach at Murray State (1948–54) and Idaho (1954–59), then became a high school administrator. Early career Hodges' coaching career began at West Frankfort High School in West Frankfort, Illinois. In his 12 seasons at WFHS, Hodges' Redbirds won their regional tournament three times, their sectional tournament twice, and made it to the state championship four times. He spent one season as the head basketball and track coach at the Missouri School of Mines before returning to his alma mater, Southern Illinois as an assistant basketball and football coach. Murray State Hodges was hired at Murray State College in Murray, Kentucky, in the spring of 1948. His 1950–51 and 1951–52 teams finished the year ranked No. 16 in the years' end AP poll. The Utah State Aggies men’s basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Mountain West Conference, that represents Utah State University. Clem Parberry
Clement Hughes Parberry (December 30, 1911 – July 11, 1976) was an American coach and athletic administrator in Idaho at the College of Idaho in Caldwell and the University of Idaho in Moscow. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Parberry graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. After coaching in Gooding, Idaho, he became the athletic director at the College of Idaho in 1938 and its head coach in football, basketball, and baseball. Parberry served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, rising to lieutenant commander. The Idaho Vandals men's basketball team represents the University of Idaho, located in Moscow, Idaho, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They currently compete in the Big Sky Conference. The Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) was a collegiate athletic conference in the United States which existed from 1915 to 1959.
