The National Hockey League (NHL; , ''LNH'') is a professional ice hockey league in North America composed of 32 teams25 in the United States and 7 in Canada. Frank Eddolls
Frank Herbert Eddolls (July 5, 1921 – August 13, 1961) was a defenceman in the National Hockey League who played for the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers, and coached the Chicago Black Hawks in 1954–55. He won the Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1946. Eddolls is perhaps best remembered as being a returning piece in one of the most lopsided trades of all time, which saw him being moved by the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for future Hockey Hall of Fame member Ted Kennedy, who was later voted by multiple publications to be one of the greatest hockey players of all time. Eddolls is known as one of the very few defencemen who consistently succeeded in defending against the legendary Maurice "Rocket" Richard. Frank was playing golf on August 13, 1961, with friends at the Cherry Hill Country Club in Ridgeway, Ontario, one friend being Stan Mikita, when he complained on the 9th hole of heartburn. Guyle Fielder
Guyle Abner Fielder (born November 21, 1930) is an American-born Canadian former professional ice hockey center. He is most known for his time in the minor Western Hockey League (1952–1974), Western Hockey League, where he played from 1952 to 1973. Fielder also played 9 regular season and 6 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1951 and 1958. He is the fourth-leading scorer in North American professional ice hockey history, behind Wayne Gretzky, JaromÃr Jágr, and Gordie Howe, and holds the career records for minor-league ice hockey for the most games played, assists and points scored. Ralph Clayton Almas, better known as Red Almas (April 26, 1924 — May 13, 2001), was a Canadian ice hockey goaltender. Gerry Couture
Gerald Joseph Wilfred Arthur Couture (August 6, 1925 — July 13, 1994) was a Canadian ice hockey centre. He played in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, and Chicago Black Hawks between 1945 and 1954. With Detroit he won the Stanley Cup in 1950. Playing career Couture started his National Hockey League career with the Detroit Red Wings in the 1945 Stanley Cup playoffs. He would also play for the Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Black Hawks. He left the NHL after the 1954 season. He played in the minors the rest of his career before retiring from hockey after 1960. Joseph Francis Klukay a.k.a. "The Duke of Padocah" (November 6, 1922 – February 3, 2006) was a professional Canadian ice hockey forward. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Al Rollins
Elwin Ira Rollins (October 9, 1926 – July 27, 1996) was a professional Canadian ice hockey goaltender who played for the Chicago Black Hawks, New York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Rollins was born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan, but grew up in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Playing career Before joining the NHL, Rollins played with the Vancouver Canucks in the PCHL. Next year, Rollins at age 21, moved to Edmonton to play for the Edmonton Flyers. Rollins believed the Flyers were a team capable of capturing the Allan Cup and he also believed if he played well enough he might get signed into the NHL. Rollins' gamble paid off and the Edmonton Flyers won the Allan Cup in 1947–48. He played 24 games that season, winning 20 and posting a 1.93 GAA. Rollins played in the minor leagues for a couple of years before he was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1950–51. Gus Mortson
James Angus Gerald "Old Hardrock" Mortson (January 24, 1925 – August 8, 2015) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Black Hawks, and Detroit Red Wings, winning four Stanley Cups with Toronto. He also played in eight NHL All-Star Games. Early career Mortson grew up in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. He joined the St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey Association Jr. league in 1943–44 and played two seasons for them.
