1950 Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1950 Southern Conference men's basketball tournament took place from March 1–3, 1950 at the Duke Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. The North Carolina State Wolfpack, led by head coach Everett Case, won their fifth Southern Conference title and received the automatic berth to the 1950 NCAA tournament. Retrieved August 27, 2014. Cameron Indoor Stadium
Cameron Indoor Stadium is an indoor arena located on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. The 9,314-seat facility is the primary indoor athletic venue for the Duke Blue Devils and serves as the home court for Duke Duke Blue Devils men's basketball, men's and Duke Blue Devils women's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball. It opened in January 1940 and was known as Duke Indoor Stadium until 1972, when it was named for Eddie Cameron, who served at Duke as men's basketball coach from 1928 to 1942, as Duke Blue Devils football, football coach from 1942 to 1945, and as athletic director from 1951 to 1972. Overtime (sports)
Overtime (OT) or extra time (ET) is an additional period of play to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament and replays are not allowed. The rules of overtime or extra time vary between sports and even different competitions. Some may employ " sudden death", where the first player or team who scores immediately wins the game. In others, play continues until a specified time has elapsed, and only then is the winner declared. The South Carolina Gamecocks men's basketball team represents the University of South Carolina and competes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
