The 1949–50 Polska Liga Hokejowa season was the 15th season of the Polska Liga Hokejowa, the top level of ice hockey in Poland. Four teams participated in the final round, and KTH Krynica won the championship. Polska Liga Hokejowa
The Polska Hokej Liga (''PHL'') is the premier ice hockey league in Poland. The highest professional level of ice hockey in Poland is the Polish Hockey League (PHL); also referred to as the Polska Hokej Liga. Previously, it was known as the I Liga or Ekstraklasa from 1926 to 1999, and the Polska Liga Hokejowa from 1999 to 2013. In 2013, it was reorganized as a limited liability company and renamed the Polska Hokej Liga. It follows a system of relegation to and promotion to/from the Polish 1. Liga. In the 2021–22 season, nine hockey clubs spread across Poland made up the league. Teams from the PHL can participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League). Piast Cieszyn
Piast Cieszyn was a Polish sports club, founded in 1909 in Cieszyn. In the past, the club was known as Stal Cieszyn. Piast matches were played at the Municipal Stadium at ul. Jana Łyska 21 in Cieszyn. Ireneusz Jeleń is the Piast's most famous home-grown player. Here he started and ended his football career in 2013. In 2016, the original Piast Cieszyn was disestablished and split into three different entities: TS Piast Cieszyn, TS 1909 Piast Cieszyn and CKS Piast Cieszyn, the latter led by Jeleń. Cracovia, commonly erroneously referred to as Cracovia Kraków and currently playing as Comarch Cracovia for sponsorship reasons, is a professional ice hockey team based in Kraków, Poland. With 12 Polish Championships (as of 2022), it is one of the most accomplished Polish ice hockey teams. They play in the Polska Hokej Liga, the country's top division.
