1941 Pacific Hurricane Season
The 1941 Pacific hurricane season ran through the summer and fall of 1941. Before the weather satellite, satellite age started in the 1960s, data on east Pacific hurricanes was extremely unreliable. Most east Pacific storms were of no threat to land. 1941 season was the last season before ''Monthly Weather Review'' stopped publishing temporarily due to World War II. Systems Tropical Storm One On July 3, a tropical cyclone was spotted, and a pressure of was reported. It possibly headed northeast, towards Cape Corrientes, as a tropical cyclone was spotted in that direction on July 6. However, it is possible that these observations were actually of two different tropical cyclones. Tropical Cyclone Two A tropical cyclone was spotted on July 15, south of Mexico. The Correlates of War project estimates this to be the deadliest year in human history in terms of conflict deaths, placing the death toll at 3.49 million. However, the Uppsala Conflict Data Program estimates that the subsequent year, 1942, was the deadliest such year. Death toll estimates for both 1941 and 1942 range from 2.28 to 7.71 million each. 1940s Australian Region Cyclone Seasons
The following is a list of all reported tropical cyclones within the Australian region between 90°E and 160°E, after the start of World War II in September 1939 and before the start of the satellite era during the 1969–70 Season. Systems 1940 *February 4–18, 1940 – A tropical cyclone developed to the west of Tuvalu and moved south-westwards through central Vanuatu during February 8. The system subsequently passed to the north of New Caledonia and moved north-westwards into the Australian region, before it made landfall near Cardwell, Queensland during February 18. Within Vanuatu, several small islands to the north of Efate bore the brunt of the cyclone, with most of the citrus, breadfruit and coconut trees on these islands uprooted, while ten missionary churches and several houses were destroyed. 1900–1950 South-West Indian Ocean Cyclone Seasons
The following is a list of South-West Indian Ocean tropical cyclones between the year 1900 and 1950. Storms 1904 Comoros cyclone On December 14, a cyclone moved through the Comoros, causing damage to the island's vanilla and coffee plantations. Crop production declined by 9% as a result of the storm, causing food shortages after little rainfall in 1905. 1905 Comoros cyclone On December 16, 1905, another cyclone moved struck the island group just a year after previous cyclone, killing 30 people and injuring 150. 1940s North Indian Ocean Cyclone Seasons
The years between 1940 and 1949 featured the 1940s North Indian Ocean cyclone seasons. Each season was an ongoing event in the annual cycle of tropical cyclone formation. The North Indian tropical cyclone season has no bounds, but they tend to form between April and December, peaks in May and November. These dates conventionally delimit the period of each year when most tropical cyclones form in the northern Indian Ocean. Below are the most significant cyclones in the time period. Because much of the North Indian coastline is near sea level and prone to flooding, these cyclones can easily kill many with storm surge and flooding. 1941 Pacific Typhoon Season
The 1941 Pacific typhoon season has no official bounds; it ran year-round in 1941, but most tropical cyclones tend to form in the northwestern Pacific Ocean between June and December. These dates conventionally delimit the period of each year when most tropical cyclones form in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. The scope of this article is limited to the Pacific Ocean, north of the equator and west of the International Date Line. 1941 Atlantic Hurricane Season
The 1941 Atlantic hurricane season was the period in 1941 in which tropical cyclones formed in the Atlantic Basin. It was a relatively inactive hurricane season, with only six known storms. It officially began on June 16, 1941, and lasted until November 1, 1941. These dates delimit the period of each year when most tropical cyclones tend to form in the Atlantic basin. Of the six cyclones, four attained hurricane status, and three became major hurricanes. The active season had an abnormally late start; the first system formed on September 11, nearly three months after the official beginning date. The season was also short-lived, as all sixstorms developed in rapid succession. On September 23, three hurricanes existed simultaneously in the Atlantic basin.
