1927–28 Washington Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 1927–28 Washington Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Washington for the NCAA college basketball season. Led by eighth-year head coach Hec Edmundson, the Huskies were members of the Pacific Coast Conference and played their home games on campus at the new UW Pavilion in Seattle, Washington. The Huskies were overall in the regular season and in conference play; first in the Northern division, the beginning of a five-year run as division winners. UW dropped their final conference game in overtime to Oregon. The new UW Pavilion was opened in late December with a three-game series against Washington traveled to Los Angeles and met Southern division winner USC in the Pacific Coast championship series. Hec Edmundson
Clarence Sinclair "Hec" Edmundson (August 3, 1886 – August 6, 1964) was an American basketball and track coach. A native of Moscow, Idaho, and a 1910 graduate of the University of Idaho, Edmundson coached at his alma mater (1916–18) and the University of Washington (1920–47), compiling a 508–204 () overall record in 29 seasons. Edmundson also coached the track teams and served on the NCAA Basketball Committee from 1941 to 1946. The University of Washington hosted the national basketball finals in 1949 and 1952 in the arena that bears his name. Nickname Edmundson gained his nickname from his mother: as a child, he often muttered, "Oh, heck." The NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, branded as March Madness, or The Big Dance, is a single-elimination tournament played in the United States to determine the men's college basketball national champion of the NCAA Division I, Division I level in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Pacific Time Zone (PT) is a time zone encompassing parts of western Canada, the western United States, and western Mexico. Places in this zone observe standard time by subtracting eight hours from Coordinated Universal Time ( UTC−08:00). During daylight saving time, a time offset of UTC−07:00 is used.
