1908 Manila's 1st Philippine Assembly District Special Elections
Two special elections (known elsewhere as "by-elections") for Manila's Manila's 1st congressional district, 1st (North) district's seat in the Philippine Assembly, the lower house of the Philippine Legislature of the Insular Government of the Philippine Islands, were held on 1908. Justo Lukban won the second election, after Dominador Gómez, winner of the 1907 general election, was expelled from office, then won the first special election, finally only to resign his rights as member of the assembly. The district then consisted of the entire district of Tondo, Manila, Tondo, Binondo, San Nicolas, Manila, San Nicolas, and Intramuros. Manila's 1st Congressional District
Manila's 1st congressional district is one of the six congressional districts of the Philippines in the city of Manila. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 1916 and earlier in the Philippine Assembly from 1907 to 1916. The district consists of barangays 1 to 146 in the western part of the Manila district of Tondo, west of Dagupan Street, Estero de Vitas and Estero de Sunog Apog bordering Navotas. It used to encompass the entire district of Tondo until 1972, as well as the districts of Binondo, Intramuros, and San Nicolas until 1949 due to the revision of Manila's city charter. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Ernesto M. Dionisio Jr. of Lakas–CMD. Quezon's 1st congressional district is one of the four congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Quezon, formerly Tayabas. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 1916 and earlier in the Philippine Assembly from 1907 to 1916. The first Philippine Assembly elections were held across the Philippines on July 30, 1907. The Philippine Organic Act of 1902 established a bicameral Philippine Legislature composed of the appointed Philippine Commission as the upper house and the elected Philippine Assembly as the lower house. The 1st Philippine Legislature was the first session of the Philippine Legislature, the first representative legislature of the Philippines. Sergio Osmeña Sr. (, ; zh, c=吳文釗, poj=Gô͘ Bûn-chiau; September 9, 1878 – October 19, 1961) was a Filipino people, Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the List of presidents of the Philippines, fourth president of the Philippines from 1944 to 1946 and as the first Vice President of the Philippines, vice president of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944.
