The Coup d'état, military coup in Bangladesh on August 15 of 1975 was launched by mid-ranking army officers in order to Assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, assassinate founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, whose administration post-independence grew corrupt and reportedly authoritarian until he established a one-party state-based government led by the socialist party Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League. Mujib, along with his resident family members, were killed during the coup but was survived by his two then-Expatriate, expat daughters, one of them being future prime minister Sheikh Hasina. The officers were led by Capt. Abdul Majed, Major Syed Faruque Rahman, Sayed Farooq-ur-Rahman, Major Khandaker Abdur Rashid and Major Shariful Haque Dalim. Begum Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib (8 August 1930 – 15 August 1975), commonly known as Begum Mujib or Bangamata and also known by her nickname Renu was the wife of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding President of Bangladesh. She was the mother of Sheikh Hasina, the leader of the Awami League and former Prime Minister from 2009 to 2024. She was killed along with her family. Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League
The Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (), abbreviated as BaKSAL, was the sole legal ruling party of Bangladesh from January to August 1975. The party comprised politicians from the Awami League, the Communist Party of Bangladesh, the National Awami Party (Muzaffar), Bangladesh National League and Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti. The party advocated for democratic socialism as a part of reforms under the theory of the Second Revolution, which BaKSAL worked to achieve the objectives of. The party was founded on 25 January 1975 by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman following the Fourth Amendment to the constitution. Abdur Rob Serniabat (4 April 1921-1975) was a Bangladeshi politician and the former water resources minister. He was the brother-in-law of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, founding father of Bangladesh, and the maternal uncle of Sheikh Hasina, the five-time prime minister of Bangladesh. He was killed during the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 15 August 1975. Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni (4 December 1939 – 15 August 1975) was a Bangladeshi politician. He was one of the nephews of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh. He was one of the founder of Mujib Bahini Bangladesh Liberation Force - BLF one of the major guerrilla forces of the Bangladesh Liberation War and also the founder of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League, the youth wing of Bangladesh Awami League. Sheikh Abu Naser
Sheikh Abu Naser (1928–1975) was a Bangladeshi politician and businessmen. He was the only brother of the founding President of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the uncle of the former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Early life Naser was Mujib's younger brother and he had 4 sisters. Career Naser had a prosperous clearing and forwarding agency in the erstwhile East Pakistan.
