''Čovek'' (trans. "A Man") is the 1978 debut studio album by Yugoslav rock band Gordi. ''Čovek'' is Gordi's only studio album to be recorded with bass guitarist Zdenko Pomper, who was replaced by Slobodan Svrdlan shortly after the album release. The album features the song "Misli" ("Thoughts"), which was previously released as the B-side of the single "Žeđ" ("Thirst"), the last single released by Gordi leader Zlatko Manojlović's previous band Dah. The lyrics for the song "Odlazim u noć" ("I'm Leaving into the Night") were written by Predrag Vuković, percussionist of the band Igra Staklenih Perli. Gordi (band)
Gordi ( sr-Cyrl, Горди; trans. ''The Proud Ones'') is a Serbian and SFRY, Yugoslav rock music, rock band formed in Belgrade in 1977. The band was formed by guitarist and vocalist Zlatko Manojlović, former leader of the progressive rock band Dah (band), Dah. Initially, the band's works were progressive/hard rock-oriented. However, with their fourth studio album, ''Pakleni trio'' (1981), the band turned towards Heavy metal music, heavy metal. The band released one more heavy metal album, ''Kraljica smrti'' (1982), disbanding two years after the release. After Gordi ended their activity, Manojlović started a successful career as a solo artist. In 2024, Manojlović reformed Gordi with a group of younger musicians, the new lineup releasing the group's comeback, hard rock-oriented album ''Fenix (Gordi album), Fenix''. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog) is a broad genre of rock music that primarily developed in the United Kingdom through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early-to-mid-1970s. Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and Distortion (music), distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the Garage rock, garage, Psychedelic rock, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Zlatko Manojlović ( Serbian Cyrillic: Златко Манојловић; born 1951), also known internationally as Zed Mitchell, is a Serbian and Yugoslav guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, currently based in Germany. Manojlović rose to prominence in the late 1960s, when he joined the already established rock band Džentlmeni. After Džentlemni disbanded, he formed the short-lived band Fleš, and in 1972, he formed the progressive rock Dah, which achieved international success with their hit "Shoshana", disbanding in 1976. In 1977, he formed Gordi, initially a progressive rock and hard rock band, which moved to heavy metal with their final two albums. Dah ( sr-cyr, Дах, trans. ''Breath'') was a Yugoslav and later Belgian progressive rock band formed in Belgrade in 1972. Dah was formed by guitarist Zlatko Manojlović and guitarist and vocalist Branko Marušić "Čutura", the two previously performing together in the band Džentlmeni. After the release of Dah's debut single in 1973, Marušić left the band, so Manojlović took the singing duties. After the release of their debut album, ''Veliki cirkus'' (1974), the band moved to Belgium, changing their name to Land. After spending a year in Belgium and having an international hit with the song "Shoshana", the band returned to Yugoslavia, where they released their second album, ''Povratak'' (1976). Igra Staklenih Perli ( sr-cyr, Игра Стаклених Перли; trans. ''The Glass Bead Game'') was a Yugoslav progressive/psychedelic rock band formed in Belgrade in 1976. The band was formed by keyboardist Zoran Lakić, guitarist Vojkan Rakić and percussionist Predrag Vuković and was later joined by bass guitarist and vocalist Draško Nikodijević and drummer Dejan Šoć.
