Úrvalsdeild Kvenna (basketball)
Úrvalsdeild kvenna (English: Women's Premier League), known as Bónus deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest basketball competition among women's clubs in Iceland. It is administered by the Körfuknattleikssamband Íslands, Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was founded in 1952 and, until 2007, it was known as 1. deild kvenna (English: Women's First division). The league was known as the ''Subway deild kvenna'' from 2021 to 2024. In July 2024, supermarket chain Bónus became the primary sponsor. Guðbjörg Sverrisdóttir
Guðbjörg Sverrisdóttir (born 10 October 1992) is an Icelandic basketball player for Valur of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. A five-time national champion, she is the Úrvalsdeild all-time leader in games played. Career Guðbjörg came up through the junior teams of Haukar and played her first games with the senior team during the 2006-2007 season. In 2010, Guðbjörg helped Hamar to the Úrvalsdeild finals where they lost to KR in five games. On February 16, 2013, Guðbjörg dislocated her shoulder in the first half of Valur's Icelandic Cup finals game against Keflavík. She returned to the court in second half, after the team physician popped the shoulder back in the socket, and was a major catalyst in Valur's comeback to the game. However, with two minutes left of the third quarter, Guðbjörg ruptured her achilles tendon, and without her Keflavík won a narrow 68-60 victory. Ragna Margrét Brynjarsdóttir (born 30 March 1990) is an Icelandic basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship in 2007 and 2009 as a member of Haukar and was named to the Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First Team in 2011 and 2017. Margrét Kara Sturludóttir (born 2 September 1989) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship in 2008 and 2010 and was named the Úrvalsdeild Domestic Player of the Year in 2011. The 2006–2007 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 49th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top-tier women's basketball league in Iceland. The season started on October 21, 2006 and ended on April 14, 2007. Bryndís Guðmundsdóttir
Bryndís Guðmundsdóttir (born 22 July 1988) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic women's national basketball team. Over her 15 year career, she won the Icelandic championship six times and the Icelandic Basketball Cup four times. Club career After coming up the junior ranks of Keflavík, Bryndís played her first senior games during the 2003–2004 Úrvalsdeild season, averaging 4.1 points in 14 games.
