Österreichisches Lesben- Und Schwulenforum
The Austrian Lesbian and Gay Forum (ALGF), in German: Österreichisches Lesben- und Schwulenforum (ÖLSF), was the driving force in Austria's LGBT social movements, LGBT movement in the 1990s and has founded Austria's only Christopher Street Day, Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade, called Regenbogenparade, on Vienna's Ringstrasse in 1996. The term ALGF/ÖLSF stands for both an annual meeting of activists and an Umbrella organization, umbrella association of important LGBT organisations in Austria. In 1999, the Austrian Lesbian and Gay Forum concluded its activity. LGBT Social Movements
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) movements are social movements that advocate for LGBTQ people in society. Although there is not a primary or an overarching central organization that represents all LGBTQ people and their interests, numerous LGBTQ rights organizations are active worldwide. The first organization to promote LGBTQ rights was the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee, founded in 1897 in Berlin. A commonly stated goal among these movements is equal rights for LGBTQ people, often focusing on specific goals such as ending the criminalization of homosexuality or enacting same-sex marriage. Others have focused on building LGBTQ communities or worked towards liberation for the broader society from homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. International Human Rights Tribunal
The International Human Rights Tribunal (IHRT) was a symbolic tribunal which took place in Vienna, Austria, in June 1995. It was chaired by environmental and human rights activist Freda Meissner-Blau and Gerhard Oberschlick, editor of ''FORVM'', and was dedicated to the persecution of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender persons in Austria from 1945 to 1995. HOSI Linz
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) rights in Austria have advanced significantly in the 21st century, and are now considered generally progressive. Both male and female forms of same-sex sexual activity are legal in Austria. Registered partnerships were introduced in 2010, giving same-sex couples some of the rights of marriage. Stepchild adoption was legalised in 2013, while full joint adoption was legalised by the Constitutional Court of Austria in 2016. HOSI Wien
The Homosexual Initiative Vienna (HOSI Wien) was founded in Vienna in 1979. It is Austria's oldest and largest gay, lesbian and bisexual association. It is a member-based organisation holding an annual general meeting and board elections. The organisation supports several sub groups including a youth group and women's group. It organises the annual Vienna Pride and Rainbow Parade. Origin of the name HOSI is the abbreviation for homosexual initiative and is used as a prefix by several different organisations which advocate for the rights of gay, lesbian and bisexual people in Austria and some neighbouring countries, such as ''HOSI Linz'', ''HOSI Salzburg'', ''HOSI Tirol''. Hermes Phettberg (born Josef Fenz; 5 October 1952 – 18 December 2024) was an Austrian artist, comedian, actor, author and talk show host. The first name of his pen name was taken from the ancient Greek god Hermes. The last name means "fat mountain", but is written as ''Phettberg'' instead of ''Fettberg'' as an ironic hint to his Greek-sounding first name.
