Álvaro Fernández (; born 11 October 1985) is a retired Uruguayans, Uruguayan Association football, footballer. He played as a midfielder. Career Club Fernández began his career with Atenas de San Carlos. His performances for Atenas de San Carlos, Atenas led him to sign for Montevideo Wanderers F.C., Montevideo Wanderers in 2007. In his one season with Wanderers Fernández appeared in 27 league matches scoring 1 goal. In 2008, he joined Mexican side Puebla Fútbol Club, Puebla before returning to Uruguay to play for top side Club Nacional de Football, Nacional. In the 2009 Copa Libertadores Second Stage, Fernández scored a goal against Club Nacional of Paraguay and Club Atlético River Plate, River Plate. While at Nacional Fernández scored several key goals in helping his side capture the 2008–09 Uruguayan Primera División season, 2008–09 league title. Villa Soriano
Villa Soriano is a town in the Soriano Department of Uruguay. Historically, it was also known as Santo Domingo de Soriano. It had acquired the status of "Villa" (town) before the Independence of Uruguay. Geography It is located on the northwest end of Route 96, on the south bank of the river Río Negro (Uruguay), Río Negro, before it discharges into Río Uruguay. History In 1624, a Franciscan Mission established a village for the indigenous tribes of the area named Santo Domingo de Soriano. The San Jose Earthquakes are an American professional association football, soccer club based in San Jose, California. The Designated Player Rule, nicknamed the Beckham Rule, allows Major League Soccer franchises to sign up to three players that would be considered outside their salary cap (either by offering the player higher wages or by paying a transfer fee for the player). The Second Stage of the 2009 Copa Santander Libertadores was a group stage. It was played from February 10 to April 30.
