Águilas De Mexicali
The Águilas de Mexicali () are a professional baseball team based in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. They compete in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP). The team plays at the Estadio Nido de los Águilas also known simply as "El Nido" (The Nest) with a capacity of 20,000 seated spectators. The Águilas have won the LMP championship four times in 1985–86, 1988–89, 1998–99 and most recently in 2016–17. Led by Cananea Reyes, the Águilas also won the 1986 Caribbean Series, played in Maracaibo. History Baseball has been played in Mexicali since 1914 and several teams have represented the city, the current incarnation of the Águilas was established in 1967 and made its debut in the Mexican Pacific League on 12 October 1976. Sergio Alberto Contreras (born April 30, 1980) is a Mexican former professional baseball outfielder and first baseman who currently serves as a coach for the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican League. Leonardo Heras Aripez (born May 29, 1990) is a Mexican professional baseball outfielder for the Olmecas de Tabasco of the Mexican League. Francisco "Paquín" Estrada Soto (February 12, 1948 – December 9, 2019) was a Mexican Major League Baseball player for the New York Mets. Estrada, a catcher, appeared in one game for the Mets in 1971.
