''53'' is a studio album by jazz pianist Jacky Terrasson. The album, his fifteenth, was recorded in Pompignan, France and released on September 27, 2019 by Blue Note Records. Background The album, his 15th, marks his 53rd birthday and 25 years since his debut release for Blue Note. Terrasson explained, "Why 53? Quite simply because I will have conceived and recorded this music during my 53rd year and that on this occasion, I wanted to make a record that really resembles me. With this record, I wanted to give myself completely, to take risks, while assuming my career, my choices artistic..." 53rd Regiment Alabama Cavalry
The 53rd Alabama Cavalry Regiment, also known as the 53rd Alabama Partisan Rangers, was a cavalry regiment that served in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. The regiment was instrumental in the raid to capture a train load of cattle destined for General Sherman during the Atlanta Campaign. The unit continued a guerrilla action as General Sherman marched to the sea in his scorched earth campaign to Savannah. The 53rd served in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. Creation of Unit On April 21, 1862, the Confederate Congress passed the Partisan Ranger Act. The law was intended as a stimulus for recruitment of irregulars for service into the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War.
