Ewa Beach () or simply Ewa (; ) is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Ewa District and the Honolulu County, Hawaii, City & County of Honolulu along the coast of Mﾄ［ala Bay on the leeward side of Oahu, Oahu in Hawaii. As of the United States 2010 Census, 2010 Census, the CDP had a total population of 14,955. The U.S. postal code for Ewa Beach is 96706. History and etymology The word ''ewa'' means "stray" in Hawaiian. The name comes from the myth that the gods Kﾄ］e and Kanaloa threw a stone to determine the boundaries, but it was lost and later found at Pili o Kahe. Hawaiian settlement on the Ewa Plain dates back at least to the 12th century C.E., at which time kanaka maoli expanded the main channel of Puuloa (Pearl Harbor) before creating fishponds and terraced agricultural fields in the surrounding area. Kﾄ］e
In Hawaiian mythology, Kﾄ］e is considered the highest of the three major Hawaiian deities, along with Kﾅｫ and Lono. He represented the god of procreation and was worshipped as ancestor of chiefs and commoners. Kﾄ］e is the creator and gives life associated with dawn, sun and sky. No human sacrifice or laborious ritual was needed in the worship of Kﾄ］e. In the Kumuhonua legend, he created Earth, bestowed upon it sea creatures, animals, plants, as well as created man and woman. Iroquois Point is a census-designated place (CDP) in Honolulu County, Hawaii, United States, on the island of Oahu near Pearl Harbor. The population was 4,549 at the 2020 census. "Iroquois Point" refers to the geographic land area that is occupied by the Kapilina Beach Homes (known as "Waterfront at Pu'uloa" until 2015 and "Iroquois Point Island Club" prior to 2008), a firing range, a Navy Exchange shoppette and gas station, and Iroquois Point Elementary School. Ocean Pointe, Hawaii
Ocean Pointe is a housing development and a census-designated place (CDP) located in the Ewa District and the City & County of Honolulu on the leeward side of Oahu in Hawaii about from Honolulu. As of the 2010 Census, the CDP had a total population of 8,361. This general area was previously known just as Ewa. In the late 19th century to early 20th century, Ewa was one of the large population centers on the Island of Oahu, with industry focused around sugar cane production. The Ewa Mill was a major employer that set up residential villages. Sugar cane is no longer grown on the Ewa Plain and Ocean Pointe is now part of Oahu's new suburban growth center窶蚤n area of substantial sprawl spreading unbroken to the south to Ewa Beach, north to Honouliuli, and west to Kalaeloa and Kapolei. Interstate H-1 (H-1) is the longest (27.16 miles = 43.71km) and busiest Interstate Highway in the US state of Hawaii. The highway is located on the island of Oﾊｻahu. Route 76 or Fort Weaver Road is a major north窶都outh highway on the island of Oahu, Oahu which begins at Interstate H-1 (H-1) in Waipahu and ends in ﾊｻEwa Beach, Hawaii, Ewa Beach. Route description Route 76 is the main thoroughfare from the Ewa Beach community to H-1. Benjamin Franklin Dillingham
Benjamin Franklin Dillingham (September 4, 1844 窶 April 7, 1918) was an American businessman and industrialist during the late Kingdom of Hawaii era, throughout the period of the Republic of Hawaii, and during the first two decades of the Territory of Hawaii. Early life Dillingham was born on September 4, 1844, into an old New England family in Brewster, on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. His father was Benjamin C. Dillingham and mother was Lydia Sears Howes. At the age of fourteen he became a sailor on the Yankee clipper ''Southern Cross'' which was captured and destroyed by the Confederate State Army steamer ''Florida'' in 1863, during the American Civil War. In 1865 he became first mate of a barque named ''Whistler'' that did a regular run between San Francisco and Honolulu. On his third trip to the island kingdom, Dillingham broke his leg after falling from a horse and was forced to convalesce in Hawaii.
