History[edit] Etymology[edit] In 1013, the statues of several precedent emperors of the Song were cast in Jian'an (建安) military prefecture. Thus, the region was changed into Zhen zhou (Zhen prefecture, 眞州) with the emperor's favour later, and a Taoist temple designated Yizhen (儀眞) was also built, at where the former furnace was situated. Both zhen and yizhen supposedly mean "lifelikeness" in Chinese.[2] The prefecture was named after the temple in 1117. The then Yizhen county was renamed Yizheng in 1723, because the homophone "zhen(禛)" as a part of the Yongzheng Emperor's Chinese name was deemed to be ineffable.
