At the 2010 census, the township was 91.7% non-Hispanic White, 3.9% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.7% Asian, and 1.8% were two or more races. 2.3% of the population were of Hispanic or Latino ancestry. At the 2000 census there were 7,054 people, 2,406 households, and 1,977 families living in the township. The population density was 324.3 people per square mile (125.2/km2).
