On January 12, 2023, a man was seen trespassing outside the Macy's entrance. After receiving the call, a LASD deputy shot the man after an alleged attack near the outside Macy's entrance at around 11 p.m. The man was taken to the hospital and later died. The deputy was also transported with injuries and was later released.
