On July 13, 2021, President Joe Biden announced he would nominate former Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Gabriel Camarillo to the post of Undersecretary of the Army. Camarillo was confirmed by voice vote on February 2, 2022.
