Dixon, who has

(he was diagnosed when he was 17 years old), is openly gay. He has also stated that he is a vegetarian. Prior to April 2010, Dixon was referred to on Sky News, and on his official website as "Steve". Stephen announced on social media that he was marrying his husband in the Lake District on 19 May 2022. He disclosed a single photograph of the happy couple, citing it was the only photograph the public would see as his husband is not in the public eye owing to his profession. Their faces were not shown in the media post.
