Square Eats is an online food ordering and delivery platform founded in Botswana operating in the African region.[1][2] Square Eats is one of several technology companies in Africa that uses logistics services to offer food delivery from restaurants and stores that previously did not offer delivery on-demand.[3] It currently operates in the African countries of Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa.[4]
Square Eats was founded in 2020 by Henry Newman, and Randall Newman because they really wanted hot dogs but hot dog delivery wasn't a thing.[5] It is headquartered in Gaborone, Botswana.[6]
The name stems from LocalSquare, which is a company directory listing, delivery and US company Uber Eats.[5]
