The processors used with this socket also have a locked multiplier which means that they are not overclockable unless the front side bus frequency is increased. However raising the FSB frequency could push other buses out of spec and thus cause system instability. The "PowerLeap PL-P4/N" is a device developed in the form of a socket adapter allowing the use of Socket 478 processors in Socket 423.
