Biography

Khabalov was born in the

, and was of Ossetian origin. After He graduated from the Mikhailovskoye Artillery School in 1878, he participated in the

February Revolution

On 13 June 1916, General Khabalov was recalled to the capital and during the February Revolution, on 24 February 1917, appointed as commander-in-chief of the
Petrograd Military District The Petersburg Military District (Питербургский вое́нный о́круг) was a Military District of the Russian Empire originally created in August 1864 following Order B-228 of Dmitry Milyutin, the Minister of War of the Russia ...
, and was given full power. Most of the troops refused to obey him and Khabalov fully lost control of the army units. In ''The Red Wheel, March 1917'',

Exile and death

In 1919 he went to the South of Russia. On 1 March, 1920, he was evacuated from Novorossiysk to
Thessaloniki Thessaloniki (; el, Θεσσαλονίκη, , also known as Thessalonica (), Saloniki, or Salonica (), is the second-largest city in Greece, with over one million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, and the capital of the geographic region of ...
. He died in Thessaloniki in an American hospital in 1924.
