Prathap Chandra Reddy (born 1933 in Aragonda)[1][2] is an Indian entrepreneur and cardiologist, who founded the first corporate chain of hospitals in India – the Apollo Hospitals Group.[3] India Today ranked him 48th in its 2017 list of India's 50 Most powerful people.[4]


Reddy was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1991[5] and received the Padma Vibhushan, which is India's second-highest civilian award, in 2010.[6][7][8] In an interview for the Creating Emerging Markets project at the Harvard Business School, Reddy explained how he navigated India’s crippling bureaucracy to bring world class healthcare to the country.[9][10][11]

Personal life

Reddy has four daughters: Preetha Reddy, Suneta Reddy, Sangeetha Reddy and Shobana Kamineni; all are serving as the Directors in the Apollo Hospitals.[12]
