History

Established in 2007, the Order of Kantakuzina Katarina Branković was inaugurated to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the enthronement of

of Zagreb, the leader of the aforementioned ecclesiastical jurisdiction. The Metropolitanate commissioned the creation of a limited-edition collection of medals and diplomas, crafted at the Monastery of St. Roman located near Niš in southern Serbia. The Order derives its name from the historical figure of Orthodox Countess Kantakuzina Katarina Branković, a prominent resident of Zagreb during the 15th century.
