. The well-known duo have also contributed to the museum's permanent collection, comprising more than 200 small-scale pieces. Due to the financial structure of the museum, they are able to operate without being affected by the financial downturn. The museum was founded by Jef Bourgeau, a native Detroit artist who works in various mediums and who has exhibited his works both in the US and Europe. At its largest, in 2003, it was over 40,000 sq. feet. It now consists of seven galleries between Detroit and Pontiac, Michigan in about 16,000 sq. feet.
