Formerly there were three species in the genus ''Mecynorhina'': * '' Mecynorhina oberthueri'' (Fairmaire, 1903) * '' Mecynorhina torquata'' (Drury, 1782) * '' Mecynorhina ugandensis'' (Moser, 1907) Some authors designated ''ugandensis'' as a subspecies of ''torquata''.
