First published in London in 1990, ''Eye'' was founded by
Rick Poynor Rick Poynor is a British writer on design, graphic design, typography, and visual culture. Career He began as a general visual arts journalist, working on ''Blueprint'' magazine in London. After founding Eye (magazine), ''Eye'' magazine, which he ...
, a prolific writer on graphic design and visual communication. Poynor edited the first twenty-four issues (1990–1997).
