The castle and the approximately 150 hectare estate were bought in 1989 by the German art collector Alexander von Vegesack, curator and director of the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, to use it during the summer months for workshops for artists, designers, architects and students. The Vienne forms most of the commune's eastern border.
