Name

The name of the settlement was changed from ''Lemberg'' to ''Lemberg pri Šmarju'' in 1953, distinguishing it from other places named Lemberg.


Cultural heritage

Lemberg was the site of a medieval castle. Very few ruins of the castle remain visible today. It was first mentioned in written documents dating to 1224. It was owned by the Lords of Sannegg and was abandoned in the 15th century. What does remain is the castle
