Lectionary 20, designated by siglum ℓ ''20'' (in the Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland, Gregory-Aland numbering), is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament, on vellum leaves. Description

The codex contains lessons from the Gospels of Gospel of John, John, Gospel of Matthew, Matthew, Gospel of Luke, Luke lectionary (''Evangelistarium''), with Lacuna (manuscripts), lacunae. The text is written in Greek Lower case, minuscule letters, on 177 parchment leaves (), 2 columns per page, 22 lines per page. It is ornamented manuscript, it contains red musical notes – neumes. In Matthew 4:23 it contains textual variant ἐν ὅλη τῇ Γαλιλαίᾳ (''in whole Galilee'') along with Codex Vaticanus, Codex Bobiensis, Curetonian Gospels, syrc and Coptic Versions of the Bible, copsa.


History

The codex was written by Onesimus, in April 1047.Frederick Henry Ambrose Scrivener, F. H. A. Scrivener, "A Plain Introduction to the Criticism of the New Testament" (George Bell & Sons: London 1894), vol. 1, p. 329. In 1633 it was purchased by William Laud, and became part of his collection. It was known as Laudianus 4. It was added to the list of the New Testament manuscripts by Johann Jakob Wettstein. It was slightly examined by John Mill (theologian), John Mill (as ''Laud. 4'') and Johann Jakob Griesbach, Griesbach. Kirsopp Lake, Kirsopp and Silva Lake published its facsimile. The manuscript is sporadically cited in the critical editions of the Novum Testamentum Graece, Greek New Testament (UBS3).''The Greek New Testament'', ed. K. Aland, A. Black, C. M. Martini, B. M. Metzger, and A. Wikgren, in cooperation with INTF, ''United Bible Societies'', 3rd edition, (Stuttgart 1983), p. XXIX. Currently the codex is located in the Bodleian Library (Laud. Gr. 34) in Oxford.
