Baranya county developed out of these two areas. Kiskozár was inhabited continuously, even under the Turkish rule. In the 17th and 18th centuries South Slav families settled next to the Hungarian population. Some of them got assimilated, others moved away after some time. Around 1760, German settlers came and by the middle of the last century they were in majority.
