History

Kimberling City was founded on the shores of

, a reservoir impounded in the late 1950s. Incorporated in 1973, Kimberling City was named after the Kimberling family, operators of a former nearby ferry. In 2021, an overhaul of the police department was accomplished, leading to a department focused on community policing and hiring more skilled officers. The department is now more diverse and proudly has two k-9 officers in its roles. Hiring Chief of Police Todd Lemoine in 2021 has led to the resurgence of a professional police department keeping the city's citizens and visitors safer than ever before.
